The 15-Minute Challenge: Dr. Brynn's Brain-Based Productivity Boosters A well-known tactic used sports psychologists, coaches, professional organizers to 'trick' clients into doing exercises, tasks, or activities they don't feel motivated to do is to 'start with 15 minutes'.
It is easier to motivate yourself (and others!) to do something if you know there is a definitive end or break coming up in a shortened period of time (e.g. 15 minutes). Further, people tend to underestimate how much progress they can make in 15 minutes. So this week, if you are struggling to start something or stick to a project, or motivate yourself to exercise etc - take the '15 minute challenge' and start with just a manageable 15 minutes. Set a timer - when the timer goes off, give yourself a break, or quit, and you'll be pleasantly surprised with your progress on difficult things!
