Research on human smiling has showed that the size and ease of a person's smile can accurately predict their future well-being scores, life expectancy, and marriage longevity. Further, contrary to popular belief, smiling doesn't come from positive affect or happiness, necessarily, but instead, CREATES it. In other words, if you're ever having a moment of overwhelmedness or procrastination - smile to yourself. Smiling will decrease cortisol, adrenaline, and stress hormones and increase happiness, affect, and a sense of well-being.

So as it turns out, your smile really does 'Light You Up'!

Struggling to get something done? Smile to yourself! Need a boost but in a serious situation? Think about smiling and the same effect is had - you get a surge of action-hormone dopamine!
