GAME ON! The Power of 'Play' for Work Productivity
How channeling your inner kid could increase your productivity at work:
We all have tasks on our list we don't want to do from time to time.
Research shows that delaying them, ruminating about them, and procrastinating against them is some of the *the most draining* things we can do to ourselves.
But how do we stop procrastinating and get to it? In this series I've talked about many ways - but here's the best yet: Research shows that gamifying your tasks, channeling your 'inner kid', and enticing your sense of 'play at work increases motivation, productivity AND work-related happiness levels.
Better yet? A sense of play also increases the likelihood of entering into a 'flow' state - the state that theorist Csikszentmihalyi thought to be the ideal state for getting satisfying work done.
So how do you gamify your tasks?
Whether you race the clock, yourself, or a colleague; see how much you can get done in a short period of time; keep a tally of your progress; or some other method - whatever induces a sense of 'play', in you, is valuable for gamifying your tasks!
What are some methods you have used to gamify your work?
